Tagged - 11 random things

Ha, so I was tagged by Marcia at The Studly Runner . Here are the rules.

1. Post these rules
2. You must post 11 random things about yourself
3. Answer the questions set for you in their post
4. Create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer
5. Go to their blog and tell them you’ve tagged them
6. No stuff in the tagging section about you are tagged if you are reading this. You legitimately have to tag 11 people!

I'm not gonna tag anyone officially, but if all my usual commenters (which is less than 11 anyway) want to play along, please do.  I will post 11 questions at the end in case someone is bored enough to follow along wants to play.

11 random things about me
1. I love music, specially live music.
2. My daily driving commute sucks.
3. I love to cook on the grill
4. I love to shop for groceries
5. Football is my favorite sport
6. I've always been a Steelers fan
7. I'm an engineer so by default I'm a geek (but I can make things work) :-)
8. I was born in Annapolis Maryland

Now here are my answers to Marcia's questions:
1. Do you have any pets?
No, but my wife has four cats and two dogs :-).

2. Most embarrassing moment?

The most recent one was when we were having a business meeting with people from the country my car is from.  I had a transmission failure failure at 85k miles and expressed my displeasure by calling my car a POS in a side conversation with a colleague.  Our visitors didn't hear it, but my colleagues get a good laugh out of it every time I drive to lunch.

3. Favorite brand of running gear?

New Balance for shoes, Balega for socks.

4. Dream vacation?

One that doesn't end.......... somewhere like this

5. Dream race?

My first IM, which is currently TBD.

6. Favorite GU flavor?

Tri-berry

7. Snow ski or water ski?

Snow, heading to Breckenridge in early April.

8. Do you get a flu shot?
Yes if it is convenient.

9. Gold, sterling silver or platinum?
None, how about a tri bike?

10. What grade in school did you enjoy most? Least?

Most was any college year.  Least was early grade school.

11. How often do you get a haircut?
Every 4 weeks.

My questions to you:
1. Why do you blog?

  1. I'm going to play because I am a narcissist and need to share random crap about myself or I will explode.

Answers to your questions: 1) I blog because I must. 2) my favorite meal is grilled fish, brown rice and spinach with too much butter. 3) I will give a sports-related accomplishment of which I am most proud...winning the trials to represent the US in the 1991 Pan American Games. 4) my favorite subject in school was a tie between french and geometry. 5) my favorite sport is rowing. 6) my favorite team ... hard to say... maybe the 1927 Yankees. 7) chocolate chips and raisins and cashews and almonds all mixed in a cup. 8) I was 34. 9) charcoal. 10) May! 11) February.

Thanks so much for allowing me an additional forum to talk about myself :) Can I interest you in an XLBand, yet?

  3. I always like reading these things, getting little bits of random. I need to do this tonight for Jason @ CTER.

  4. Mike, the number '8' is considered good luck in Chinese culture because the word for 8 sounds like Fā 发 which means 'wealth' in Chinese.

Many Chinese, including my cousin, got married on 08.08.08 since it was considered an exceptionally lucky date.

  7. Your dream vacation and mine sound a lot alike :) But mine has to have some good running places too :))

I have never tried belega socks, but I hear they are awesome!

  8. Also, funny about the silver, gold, platinum, bike :)
I know a jeweler who started riding to stop his addiction to alcohol. He figures he dumps less into a 6,000- 10,000$ bike now than he did in alcohol each year. :) That's his justification for new gear :)

    1. Maybe I need to develop a drinking problem so that my husband would prefer my biking problem. :)

  9. Hey, I can finally comment on your blog. Maybe bc I'm on my school computer rather than Explorer at home. Whatever.

Anyway, cool list. I knew parts of this. I'm surprised you didn't include your vast talent in backing up cars with bikes on the rack. ;-) Pretty sure Jeff would be with you on the pet thing, and I totally agree on your #1, but I'd prefer a cross bike to a tri bike (for now).
