swapped these out over the weekend |
Those are butyl tubes. I got tired of pumping up my tires every 3 days with latex tubes.
New shoes with Yankz laces installed |
I still need to go over my gear checklist and decide what to bring to this event. I'll have to less the house about 4 am Sunday, not really looking forward to that.
Here are a couple random throw in pics from my ride this evening.
I can see for miles and miles |
and miles and miles and miles :-) |
Oh, an update on Goal #3 I set at the beginning of the year. With eight weeks to go, I was down six pounds. I figured I had it in the bag since I can lose a 1/2 pound a week just by watching my diet. Well, after three business trips in six weeks, I gained all six pounds back! Luckily I normally don't travel that much (and lucky I didn't gain more), so I should be able to lose it again, just not by my goal date. With that said I have a couple trips coming up in the near future.
Race season!! I know you're excited. :) Good luck this weekend!!
ReplyDeleteI know it's only been a couple weeks, but it feels like forever since I've raced. I need to get running again so I can think about signing up for the Memorial Day biathlon.
You're scenery in Illinois (?) looks a lot like mine ;). Having grown up in Iowa, I actually do love those long farm roads, brings back tons of fun childhood memories. I'm just glad I don't have to train on it constantly anymore ;).
ReplyDeleteTraveling can wreck the ol' diet. I'm struggling with excess weight (I wish it were only 6 lbs) and I know it's contributing to my racing slowness...I gotta figure out what's going on SOON! But you easily lost it before and you will again.
Yeah, 4am isn't too bad to get up and travel....but it's pretty sweet staying in a hotel and getting up a bit later :). Good luck with the race this weekend... Woohoo, race time!!
I need to install laces like that, but mine are so pretty and fluorescent I've just been double knotting them. LOL I am such a girl.
ReplyDeleteSo where are you headed to race this weekend? I think I missed that. Cool way to remember your gear list. :) My problem right now with the extra lbs is the eating at "events" (bday party and 1st communion this weekend = 4 extra lbs for MMNW). Really need to remember to reign in the eating at get togethers. Last week I saw numbers at/below my off-season goal and yet this morning up again. Grr...
ReplyDeleteIts cool to get gear for race season. Bummer about the weight gain, but you can jump back in the saddle and keep going for it.
ReplyDeleteYay for race season!!!
ReplyDeleteGo get'em!
ReplyDeleteNothing better than quiet back roads for cycling!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to read about this race! Good luck. Love the pics from your ride.
ReplyDeleteI finished my swim lessons tonight. I also have to take about 10 days off due to surgery but then I'll be back at it and may pester you with questions.
And traveling is very hard on weight for sure!
Just reading about getting ready for a race has my stomach doing somersaults. I am a basket case.
ReplyDeleteI just switched to Conti-4000 tires on my bike. I had cheapie tires on before, and like them much better.
ReplyDeleteNice pics!
I need some of those tubes. Mine have to be repumped every trip!
ReplyDeleteSooo...good luck you! Will be cheering you on.
Love those roads. (And Now I have that song in my head:)
I like Conti tires too. I'm running Schwalbe now since it's what the shop uses, but at heart I'm a Conti guy.
ReplyDeleteIt IS race season, isn't it!?! It REALLY snuck up on me. My first oly is tomorrow and I'm completely unprepared. Ah well...it's all about enjoying life, right? So as long as I have fun doing it, I'm not going to sweat the small stuff :D
ReplyDeleteWish we had more roads like that closer to home:) Good luck!
ReplyDeleteWhat great photos! Love the scenery. I would like to run there.
ReplyDeleteYou will lose that fast with the right eating, especially if you are off the injured list. Best wishes with the races!
Ah yes, I've been on the 4am race schedule for 2 weeks now. Hard yet exciting at the same time. All the best with racing season. Enjoy the new equipment!
