2011 - The Numbers

Another pretty solid year of training is in the books.  I log on beginner triathlete which makes it easy to compare year over year and generate cool graphs like the one below.  If you haven't been to the site, check it out and consider joining a mentor group, new ones are open now.  They are a great way to get training and nutrition questions answered as well as make new friends with similar interests.

Anyway, I rode bike bike on the trainer 14.38 miles this morning to hit a nice round 2500 miles for the year.

My totals were:

2011 totals
Bike:166h 59m 45s  - 2500 Mi
Run:121h 40m 34s  - 707.17 Mi
Swim:35h 15m 42s  - 76830.84 Yd

I biked about 750 mile more in 2011 than in

I like the way Jeff looked at his averages so I'm going to copy his idea.  My training averages were:

208.3 biking miles per month
58.9 running miles per month
6402.5 swimming yards per month (that's embarrassing!)
27.0 training hours per month

Those numbers don't look too bad (except for the swimming).  Let's break them down further.

48.1 biking miles per week
13.6 running miles per week (no wonder I didn't get any faster this year)
1477.5 swimming yards per week
6.25 training hours per week

So there you have it.  My third year of endurance sports in the books.

Happy New Year everyone!

Still looks like some solid training to me, but I haven't made it a 2nd job just yet. :) Happy New Year!

All those numbers look pretty high to me. Your monthly swimming avg. is higher than my entire year of swimming. You have a lot to be proud of this year...looking forward to following along this next year.

Happy New Year!

Mike! Great year averages! It's nice to break it down like that isn't it? I need to sit down and work mine out....
You did great this year- here's to an even better year in 2012!
And yes....I feel the same about coming across your blog this year. It's been great getting to know you. And I FOR SURE think it would be awesome sign for a full IM at same time.I don't know if I can sign for one and not know a soul. Too chicken;)
I talked to a guy who does IMC almost every year...he said we should be able to get in next year...if we sit by our computers as soon as it opens:) (Heard that one before;))

Wishing you a wonderful and happy New Year! Hugs to you and your family!!!!!!!

Happy New Years Mike. Your numbers look solid for sure, but now I'm going to have to go back and average them out by week and month too.

See you next year.

I like the graph, that's pretty cool and if I ever get to training for an IM (a big goal in 2013) then I am going to get on that site! You have some great numbers, Mike! Looking forward to what great adventures the new year brings you! Have a great one!

Hey, that's super Mike! We are always harder on ourselves than others. The way I see it is that you had a solid year and put in good training time for a whole year... every month you logged training time. Awesome!

Yeah Jeff made my year look like crap with his breakdowns! (just kidding) I am in the same boat as you, seemed liek alot of work for not getting faster for me, but 2012 will change!

Nice job on the year! The numbers look great, and if you wish the swimming was higher, it just gives you a goal for next year.

I so admire the organized way you track your stats. I am so seat of the pants in that regard. Hooray for 3 years of tri/fitness!
